Knowing as Copies

At this initial, REALIST level of epistemological understanding, young children are aware of epistemic states (knowing, believing, thinking), but they do not see them as originating from human minds. Instead, the direction of causality is from the world to the mind: The ideas in our minds mirror an external reality. As a result, there can be no false beliefs, no inaccurate renderings of this reality.
